URGENT RECALL FOR PRODUCT CORRECTIONInvacare TDX® SP Power Wheelchairs with Stability Lock TDX SP Manufactured between August 2006 - September 2008 Invacare Australia, following advice that the Stability lock feature on some of these chairs may not be engaging properly or consistently, is recalling the chairs to inspect and adjust the stability lock feature. In November of 2007, Invacare initiated a recall for its TDX SP Power Wheelchair with Stability Lock. We are expanding on our original notification to address issues that have been determined to exist with our stability lock feature and improvements implemented by Invacare. Invacare has become aware that on some chairs, the stability lock feature may not be engaging properly or consistently. If the stability lock feature does not engage properly, the wheelchair may exhibit a tendency to do one or more of the following:
Consequently and even though remote, an uncorrected Stability Lock feature could lead to serious injury for the user due to loss of control of the wheelchair. Although the potential for serious injury is remote, Invacare Australia feels that addressing this issue promptly will further reduce any potential risk of injury to you, or damage to your chair, and seeks your cooperation in the inspection and adjustment of the stability lock feature. This action is being undertaken following consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration. For further information please call your Invacare distributor or Invacare Australia.
